Mawan Island – Stunning and Relaxing

If you’re looking for a laid-back, relaxed destination in the Komodo National Park where you could go for a leisurely stroll at your own pace, snorkel without going in too deep or climb without going up too high, you should then visit Mawan Island. This simple, yet stunning island is covered in grasslands and soothing atmosphere, the water is clear and calm and there are plenty of beautiful corals and marine creatures to spot. It is only one-hour speedboat ride away from Labuan Bajo.

Mawan is also a good spot for trekking, suitable for those who aren’t too much into physical activities. Trekking here would be relatively easy as there are no steep hills. Just a short walk away and you’re at the summit! You won’t even feel tired. After trekking, take a dip in the deliciously cool, calm water. While you’re at it, you could snorkel or dive and take in the breathtaking beauty of the underwater world. If you’re lucky, you might even spot some Manta Rays! The beach here at Mawan Island is dazzling with soft, powdery white sands which you can walk on barefooted without worrying about sharp corals or rocks. This island is the perfect Instagram spot for a castaway backdrop!
