The Tourism Authority of Labuan Bajo is considering the endorsements of international celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, star of the world-famous 1997 Titanic movie, and Denzel Washington to promote Labuan Bajo and the Komodo National Park as a world-renowned destination and conservation area.
Shana Fatina, head of the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority said that the team is looking at enhancing promotional activities for the destination worldwide. “We’re looking at highlighting the conservational aspects of the Komodo National Park and Labuan Bajo as we’re looking to rebrand as a UNESCO World Heritage site and Biosphere Reserve.”
“Whoever who agrees to promote Labuan Bajo, we hope that he/she will underscore the importance of biodiversity and conservation,” she added. “It would be a great fit if he/she is an environmental activist with an understanding of biodiversity.”
Labuan Bajo is part of Indonesian government’s 5 super-priority destinations for the tourism sector and the agency is also working on a few more concepts for Labuan Bajo as the new destination for honeymooners and motorcycle touring. East Flores is also being primed as a religious tourism destination as Larantuka, in East Flores is well known as the Vatican of Indonesia.
