Cashew Nuts Processing In Wolowaru
Wolowaru is a small village which is known for its cashew nuts processing. It is a small scale enterprise but is supported by an international development project and has become an important source of income for many local farmers. The cashew nuts originate from Ilepandung in the Flores Timur district. In the Wolowaru village, you can see the whole process of the cashew nut from splitting the nut, peeling and cleaning the skin, sorting, roasting and of course, tasting. In the village, there is also a small warung where you can buy different kinds of organic cashew products to take home.
A unique experience, but if you decide to visit Wolowaru it is recommended to combine this with other villages, such as Nggela.
– Make a trip to visit Wolowaru together with all other villages in the area
– There are no facilities so make sure you bring your own snacks and drinks
– The closest village with facilities is Moni, about 13 kilometers away
