The Indonesian archipelago is a wildlife wonderland above below the water, There are many dive sites in Indonesia and if you are in East Nusa Tenggara, then you’re lucky, as some of Indonesia’s most breathtaking dive sites are located here.
Komodo National Park (KNP)
The Komodo National Park is not just about the Komodo Dragons. Did you know that the KNP is located in the heart of the Coral Triangle? This means that some of the world’s richest marine life and marine biodiversity live here in this part of the world!
Komodo National Park is home to a large number of dive spots which you can visit either directly from Labuan Bajo or while island hopping through the many, many islands located within the National Park. One of the more popular sites that you must-visit is Manta Point – both divers and snorkelers enjoy their time here, and you can either visit it on its own or buy a tour package from a local dive operator.
While diving in the KNP, you’ll see a plethora of colourful and unique underwater creatures including tropical fishes, seahorses, manta rays and coral sharks.
Alor Island is world famous the world over for its vast and varied underwater world. The main island is the springboard to at least 50 dive points, which are located in numerous spots around the big island and the Pantar Marine Park. With its beautiful clear waters, Alor is the perfect alternative to Raja Ampat and Komodo, although each destination comes with its own unique charm and attractions.
Seasoned divers have been visiting Alor for some time know and there have been sightings of marine life that have never been identified before in the waters of Alor along with Reef Sharks, Barracuda, Sea Turtles, Napoleon Fish and Moray Eels. Alor’s healthy coral reefs are home to an abundance of marine life.
