East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)’s Head of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DKP), Ganef Wurgiyanto, said that the provincial government has plans to develop Mulut Seribu in Rote Ndao Regency as an exclusive tourist location. The natural panorama of the sea is very much similar to Raja Ampat of Papua. There are also plans to establish grouper fish farming within the location to support tourism development.
In addition to fish farming, DKP will also transplant coral reefs to enhance the area as an attractive diving destination. Ganef explained that the waters surrounding Mulut Seribu are filled with exotic sea creatures, incredible corals, natural beauty and clear blue water interspersed with large and small islands. For this reason, he continued, the provincial government had designed the construction of a bridge the connect the islands.
“Once the bridges are completed, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the sea and the underwater ecosystem in an safe and convenient environment,,” he said. He also said that the larger islands will be the site for resort developments and the smaller islands will host restaurants and bars.
