Perfect For Snorkelling: Sabolon Island

Perfect For Snorkelling: Sabolon Island

Sabolon Island is the perfect spot for snorkelling. However, there are actually two islands, called Sabolon Kecil and Sabolon Besar. “Kecil” means small in Bahasa Indonesia and “Besar” means big, so with this, you can imagine the two different sizes of the islands.

The Sabolon Islands are perfectly reachable by local boats. From Labuan Bajo, it takes about one hour to get there. Both of the islands have amazing beaches; however, there are no piers so you have to walk through the water or even swim to get to the beach.

When you snorkel in this area, you will be amazed by the beautiful and colourful coral reefs. Even the perfect white sandy beaches are worth plenty of visits. The natural scenery offers a beautiful view of the island’s dramatic rolling hills.

Travel tips:

–       There are no facilities on both islands, make sure you bring enough drinks and snacks

–       Please respect nature and don’t throw any rubbish around

–       Go camping on Sabolon Besar; bring your own equipment
