Moni

Moni is one of the more remote located villages in Flores but is surrounded with beautiful rice fields. Moni is famous for the Kelimutu volcano and its three colored lakes which are easy to access from the village. The village itself consists of one road with multiple shops, few houses, a school, few restaurants and a scooter mechanic. The locals are very friendly and might be willing to show you around. There are some beautiful waterfalls close to the village and the force of the water is truly amazing.

There are a few public busses passing the village and will also take you to the next village for prices ranging between 30,000 to 80,000 Rp. Renting a car will enable you to stop at the beautiful sceneries along the road. A few kilometers outside of Moni in the Ende direction you can find an amazing fruit market. Here locals sell their fresh and tasty fruit produced by their garden and plucked from the forest. Sarongs woven by the lovely local woman using the Ikat technique are easy to be found, they come in two qualities, natural and chemical dye. There are a few restaurants serving western and traditional food and of course some warungs selling bakso etc.
